A fresh glimpse into the making of Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps offers viewers an extensive look into the colossal figure of Galactus. Marvel Studios recently unveiled a behind-the-scenes video demonstrating the intricate process of bringing Galactus to life for the upcoming film, set to hit theaters in a mere week. The video delves into the meticulous attention to detail required to construct a practical model of Galactus that could later be enlarged to portray the towering figure fans recognize from the comics.

In the video, the crew discusses the challenge of creating Galactus on a human scale, knowing that the character would ultimately be transformed into an “absolutely gigantic character.” Every aspect of the model had to be meticulously crafted to maintain realism when blown up to an immense scale. Opting for a practical approach to visualize such a massive character, the filmmakers employed innovative lighting techniques and special lenses to enhance the villain’s scale on screen.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps promises a retro sixties aesthetic with a futuristic twist, a nod to the initial comic debut of Marvel’s first family. Originally introduced by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in November 1961, the characters are returning to the silver screen with a retro vibe that encapsulates the essence of the comics. Director Matt Shakman expressed his passion for capturing the essence of the ’60s, asserting that the film embodies the optimism and space exploration fervor of that era.

This iteration of the Fantastic Four stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, Ralph Ineson as Galactus, Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal, and Paul Walter Hauser as Mole Man. Directed by Matt Shakman, known for his work on WandaVision, the film boasts a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Eric Pearson, and Jeff Kaplan. While the movie was set to feature John Malkovich in a villainous role, his part was ultimately removed.

Unlike previous adaptations, The Fantastic Four: First Steps does not delve into the characters’ origins but rather focuses on their lives as an established superhero team. Additionally, this film introduces Reed and Sue’s child, Franklin, whose presence plays a significant role in the storyline alongside Galactus.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is scheduled for release on July 25, 2025, offering audiences a fresh perspective on the iconic Marvel superheroes.
