The closures of several campsites, roads, and hiking trails near Leavenworth this weekend are linked to an ongoing investigation in the area related to the search for Travis Decker. Decker is the man accused of killing his three young daughters in May, and new forensic evidence has confirmed his DNA on items found at the crime scene, strengthening the case against him.

The FBI has made the decision to close the Rock Island Campground and various nearby roads and trails from August 24-27. The closure is directly tied to the same area where Decker was previously sought. The closure aims to provide public health and safety while the FBI conducts its investigation in the area where Decker’s truck and his daughters’ bodies were discovered. The U.S. Forest Service has issued a closure order covering multiple roads, trails, and campgrounds along Icicle Creek.

The closed campgrounds include Rock Island Campground, Blackpine Horse Campground, and Chatter Creek Campground. The roads affected by the closure order include FSR 7600600, FSR 7600550, FSR 7600415 and 7600415A, among others. Additionally, several trailheads such as Jack Pine Trail and Icicle Gorge Trail will also be closed during the investigation period.

As the search for Travis Decker enters its third month, law enforcement officials are continuing their efforts to locate him. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has stated that they have no evidence suggesting whether Decker is alive or deceased. The U.S. Marshals Service is spearheading the manhunt with support from various local and federal agencies. There is speculation that Decker could be anywhere, including internationally or locally.

A public memorial was recently held in Wenatchee to honor Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia, the daughters allegedly killed by Decker. The community gathered to remember the girls and hear tributes from their family members. Amid the ongoing investigation, new forensic evidence has been released, further incriminating Decker in the deaths of his daughters. The medical examiner’s report concluded that the girls died by suffocation, with Decker’s DNA found on the items used in the crime scene.

Authorities are urging the public to report any sightings of Decker or information about his whereabouts. Tips can be submitted to the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center. The search for Travis Decker continues as law enforcement agencies remain dedicated to bringing him to justice for the tragic deaths of his daughters.
