Al Roker Joins Role Model on Stage at ‘Today’ Concert
Al Roker closed out his week on Today with a surprise performance alongside rising music star Role Model during the show’s 2025 Citi Concert Series. Role Model has a viral tradition of bringing fans on stage for his song “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out,” and this time, he invited Roker to join him.
“Where’s my Sally tonight?” Role Model shouted as Roker strutted onto the stage wearing a cowboy hat and holding a glass of white wine. The two of them danced and sang together to the delight of the crowd gathered at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Fans were thrilled to see the Today host having a blast and joining the ranks of stars like Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson, Reneé Rapp, and Conan Gray who have previously been Role Model’s “Sally.”
Viewers took to social media to express their excitement about the unexpected collaboration. One fan commented, “This made me smile so big!!! Two of our faves taking the stage together!!!!❤️ and WOW! Al is a wine drinking pro! Not a drop spilled!😆😆,” while another called Roker a legend and expressed their love for him. The performance received a perfect 10/10 rating from MTV’s official Instagram account.
Before the performance, Today shared a behind-the-scenes look at Roker preparing to be Sally, showing him stretching and gathering props. The show also posted a clip of Roker’s colleagues, Craig Melvin and Laura Jarrett, smiling and cheering him on as he took the stage.
Roker had returned to the show after a week-long vacation in Italy with his wife, Deborah Roberts, sharing photos of their travels on Instagram. He humorously compared a picture of himself and Roberts in front of the Torre del Mangia in 2009 to a recent one, joking that only the clock tower and his wife hadn’t changed, while he had aged.
The unexpected and fun collaboration between Al Roker and Role Model added a memorable moment to the Today show’s Citi Concert Series. Fans were delighted to see the beloved host let loose and have a great time on stage with the rising music star.
