Rachael Sage’s musical performances are filled with exuberance and fervor, captivating audiences with her graceful voice and striking outfits. Her song, “Just Enough,” evokes a picturesque scene of love and beauty as she croons about various elements that exude love. Sage, a talented singer-songwriter and instrumentalist, will be sharing the stage with Danni Nicholls at The Fanwood Performance Series at The Kuran Cultural Arts Center/The Carriage House on October 11 at 7 p.m.

Sage is gearing up for an album release show at the Cutting Room in New York on October 23 at 9 p.m. This event will showcase her latest album, “Canopy,” which embodies themes of inclusiveness, equality, and non-violence. “Canopy,” set to be released on October 24 on Sage’s MPress Records label, is Sage’s first full band release with The Sequins, featuring Trina Hamlin on harmonica, Andy Mac on drums, and Dave Eggar on cello.

In her previous albums, such as 2023’s “The Other Side” and 2024’s “Another Side,” Sage seamlessly blended elements of folk and pop to deliver poignant reflections on loss and gratitude. With “Canopy,” Sage encourages listeners to pause, reflect, and experience a range of emotions from outrage to positivity. Despite touching on weighty issues, Sage infuses a sense of wonder and hope reminiscent of the flower power era of the 1960s in her music.

Throughout her career, Sage has collaborated with renowned musicians like Judy Collins, Rufus Wainwright, Ani DiFranco, and Howard Jones. As a versatile artist, Sage delves into various creative pursuits, including painting, album cover design, and early dance performances with the New York City Ballet. Known for her philanthropic endeavors, Sage actively supports organizations such as the Foundation for Women’s Cancer, The Trevor Project, and WhyHunger.

Discussing her latest album, “Canopy,” Sage notes a thematic shift towards nurturing connections, acceptance, and shelter, as opposed to resilience, which was a prevalent theme in her previous work. Through songs like “Canopy” and “Live It Up,” Sage conveys a message of inclusivity and optimism, inviting audiences to participate in a shared journey towards a brighter future. “Just Enough” celebrates the idea of self-acceptance and unconditional love, showcasing a trio of tracks that resonate with these overarching themes.

“Canopy” stands as a beacon of hope amidst the prevailing sense of despondency in the world today. The song offers a glimpse of what could transpire if a more empathetic and inclusive approach were adopted in positions of power. While the track acknowledges the current state of affairs, it ultimately fosters a hopeful vision for a world driven by compassion and understanding. Sage’s music serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of art in fostering unity and resilience in tumultuous times.
