Peter Gabriel reveals upcoming album titled ‘o/i’ – Deltaplex News
Peter Gabriel is set to release a new album titled “o/i” this year, following his 2023 album “i/o”. The two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer plans to unveil a new song from the album with each full moon of the year, starting with the track “Been Undone” on Saturday coinciding with the Wolf Moon. The entire album, along with Dark-Side and Bright-Side mixes by Tchad Blake and Mark “Spike” Stent, will be out by the year’s end.
Expressing his excitement on his website, Gabriel shared, “I’m delighted to say that tonight, at the full moon, we will be beginning another year of full moon releases under the name ‘oi.’ The songs are a mix of thoughts and feelings.” He further explained that the songs are a blend of his introspective side and his outward expression, symbolized by “i/o: the inside has a new way out and oi: the outside has a new way in.” Gabriel indicated that some tracks would be part of his ongoing brain project exploration while others simply evoke happiness.
In a similar fashion to the release of “i/o,” each new song’s debut will be accompanied by an art piece. The artwork for “Been Undone” is Ciclotrama 156 (Palindrome) by São Paulo-based artist Janaina Mello Landini.
Gabriel’s innovative approach to releasing one song per full moon along with corresponding artwork adds a unique dimension to the album’s rollout, inviting fans to experience his music and visual artistry in a synchronized manner throughout the year. This method not only builds anticipation for each new track but also enriches the overall listening experience by combining music with visual interpretation.
Fans can look forward to a year-long journey through Gabriel’s musical landscape, experiencing the evolution of “o/i” with each full moon and accompanying art piece. The artist’s commitment to this creative process showcases his dedication to providing a multi-sensory experience for his audience, creating a cohesive and immersive artistic journey from start to finish.
As the year progresses, followers of Peter Gabriel can anticipate a series of monthly musical releases that promise to captivate and engage listeners, offering a unique and dynamic approach to experiencing his new album “o/i” in its entirety. With his distinctive blend of introspection, creativity, and musical artistry, Gabriel continues to push boundaries and delight fans with his innovative approach to storytelling through music and art.
