Edge of Paradise’s latest video delves into the heroes and villains within us
Los Angeles-based band Edge of Paradise recently released a new music video for their track “Martyr (Monster)” from their album Prophecy. The video delves deeper into the band’s sci-fi world and features their new keyboardist, Alex Nasla. The band also reimagined the song as an instrumental piece, expanding upon its original form from Prophecy.
This new instrumental version of the track coincides with the release of their graphic novel, Hologram, and upcoming audiobook, Slaves to Forever. These projects explore emotional themes related to consciousness, control, and humanity in a world that is increasingly digital. Frontwoman Margarita Monet shared her thoughts on the video and expanded track, stating that the song is about the choice between surrendering to the system that shapes you or reclaiming your identity. She believes that both martyrdom and monstrosity exist within us, but the power lies in choosing which one defines our reality. The video visually expands on this idea, exploring perspectives, fractured possibilities, and the struggle to maintain humanity in a world that is becoming more artificial and controlled.
Following tours with Delain, Xandria, and Lovebites, Edge of Paradise has announced upcoming festival appearances, including headline performances at Fire It Up Festival in Garden Grove, CA, on February 7 and Hyperspace Metal Fest in Vancouver, BC, Canada, on April 17. They will also be performing at Rock in Rautheim in Braunschweig, DE, with more live dates to be announced soon.
