The Black Keys reveal upcoming album titled ‘Peaches’
The Black Keys have recently revealed details about their upcoming album, ‘Peaches,’ scheduled for release on May 1st, 2026. This will mark the 14th studio album in the rock duo’s career. To provide a taste of what fans can expect, they have released a bluesy new single titled ‘You Got To Lose,’ a reinvention of a George Thorogood classic that pays homage to The Black Keys’ initial raw and do-it-yourself sound.
During the creation of ‘Peaches’ in 2025, Dan Auerbach faced challenging times as he cared for his father, who was battling a stroke and oesophageal cancer. Music served as a form of solace and therapy during these emotionally turbulent periods. Bandmate Patrick Carney stood by Auerbach’s side, facilitating their journey into the Easy Eye Sound studios, marking a conscious return to their initial raw recording process. The album was crafted organically, with live recordings in a single room, most of which were performed in one or two takes.
Auerbach describes ‘Peaches’ as their most authentic work since their debut album in 2002, ‘The Big Come Up.’ He reflects on the creative process, emphasizing that they were not just making a record but engaging in a jam session for their own enjoyment. The cathartic nature of the recording sessions is evident in Auerbach’s words as he shares, “We were going through a lot, trying to lift our spirits. I think my dad getting sick made me not give a fuck and just wanna scream for a bit.”
Carney, who has shared a lifelong friendship with Auerbach from their childhood in Ohio, initially hoped that the recording sessions would provide Auerbach with a distraction from his father’s health struggles. Despite the challenging circumstances, Carney took charge of mixing the album, opting for a seamless live recording approach without separating vocals, culminating in a raw and gritty sound that captures the essence of the duo.
In recent years, Auerbach and Carney have delved into the realm of obscure old records for their Record Hang DJ-sets, influencing the selection of tracks on ‘Peaches.’ Auerbach sheds light on their process, saying, “I’d look for 45s specifically to play at the record hangs, but sometimes I’d find a song and think, ‘This might be fun for Pat and me to play live.'”
The Black Keys have also unveiled plans for two headline shows in London, set to take place at the Eventim Apollo on August 31st and the O2 Brixton Academy on September 1st, following their appearance at the Victorious Festival in Portsmouth on August 27th. Their summer lineup includes performances at renowned events like the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Harriet Island Regional Park in Saint Paul, and Paris’ Rock En Seine in August.
Accompanying the album release is the music video for ‘You Got To Lose,’ filmed at the iconic Memphis juke joint, Hernando’s Hide-A-Way. The tracklist for ‘Peaches’ includes songs like ‘Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire,’ ‘Stop Arguing Over Me,’ ‘Who’s Been Foolin’ You,’ ‘It’s a Dream,’ ‘Tomorrow Night,’ ‘You Got To Lose,’ ‘Tell Me You Love Me,’ ‘She Does It Right,’ ‘Fireman Ring the Bell,’ and ‘Nobody But You Baby.’
