One individual is in critical condition, with eight others sustaining injuries in a mass shooting that occurred at a music venue in the east side of Cincinnati early Sunday morning. The incident took place shortly before 1 a.m. at Riverfront Live located at 4343 Kellogg Ave. Security camera footage from a nearby establishment captured the chaotic scene as attendees fled the venue following the initial gunshots.

According to UC spokesperson Heather Chura Smith, eight individuals were transported to UC Medical Center. Of these, one person remains in critical condition, five are in stable condition, and two have been discharged from the hospital. Additionally, another victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and has since been released. Authorities have assured that the incident is isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

The Cincinnati Police Department stated around 3:30 a.m. that the investigation into the mass shooting is ongoing, with no suspect description released at that time. Mayor Aftab Pureval expressed gratitude via social media for the immediate response of officers and first responders, as well as the medical staff who treated the victims.

The tragic incident occurred during a birthday celebration at Riverfront Live, a music venue in the East End that caters to patrons aged 16 and over. Antoinette Coates, whose son was among those injured, emphasized the need for enhanced security measures to prevent such senseless violence. An eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous, recalled witnessing an altercation that preceded the shooting, involving an individual who was later knocked unconscious. Subsequently, three individuals entered the establishment and opened fire before fleeing the scene. Police have yet to establish a connection between the initial altercation and the shooting incident at Riverfront Live.

Riverfront Live, known for its capacity to host large crowds both indoors and outdoors, has not issued a formal statement regarding the shooting as of Sunday morning. The venue has an indoor capacity of 1,200 guests and can accommodate up to 3,500 guests outdoors, according to its official website.
