Newly surfaced video footage depicting a missile strike on a compound near an Iranian elementary school is raising suspicions that the U.S. may be responsible for the tragic events of February 28, where over 160 lives were lost. The video, released by Iran’s semiofficial Mehr News agency, captures missiles hitting a building near a Revolutionary Guard base in Minab, Iran, close to an elementary school. The impact of the strike resulted in a massive dark plume of smoke billowing into the air, creating a scene of devastation.

Experts who analyzed the video footage noted that the munition used in the attack bears similarities to a U.S. weapon. Sam Lair, a research associate at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), highlighted that the munition in question is consistent with a U.S. Tomahawk Land Attack Missile (TLAM). Lair explained that the missile’s visual characteristics, such as its cruciform shape with centrally mounted wings and a tailkit at the back, align with those of a TLAM. Additionally, the video was shot approximately 250 meters from the impact site, indicating that the munition must be substantial in size, ruling out other similar-looking munitions in the U.S. arsenal, like the GBU-69B.

Previously released images from U.S. Central Command depict the USS Spruance, a vessel within the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier group, launching a Tomahawk missile on the same day as the strike in support of Operation Epic Fury. Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, confirmed during a press conference that the initial missile launch at sea was conducted using Tomahawks by the U.S. Navy. Despite this evidence, President Donald Trump denied U.S. involvement in the incident and pointed the blame towards Iran, stating that the country is known for its inaccuracy in using munitions.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth mentioned that investigations are ongoing to determine accountability for the strike. Hegseth also emphasized that Iran is the only party known to target civilians, suggesting that the U.S. does not engage in such activities. The situation remains tense as accusations and counter-accusations continue to circulate, raising questions about the true perpetrators behind the deadly missile strike near the Iranian elementary school.
