Six Feet Under is gearing up to release their highly anticipated new studio album, “Next to Die,” on April 24th, 2026, through Metal Blade Records. The album represents a significant creative achievement for the band, with guitarist Jack Owen describing the initial inspiration as a collection of death metal songs focused on speed and aggression. However, vocalist Chris Barnes suggested incorporating groove-oriented tracks reminiscent of Six Feet Under’s early material, resulting in a unique blend of genres on the album.

The collaborative effort between Owen and Barnes led to the division of “Next to Die” into two distinct sides – Death and Groove. This approach allowed the band to explore different musical styles and showcase their versatility while appealing to a wide range of listeners. The album, produced by Owen and Barnes and mixed by Mark Lewis, highlights the band’s evolution since their previous release, “Killing for Revenge,” in 2024.

Six Feet Under’s current lineup, consisting of Barnes, Owen, lead guitarist Ray Suhy, bassist Jeff Hughell, and drummer Marco Pitruzzella, has been praised for delivering a powerful and cohesive sound. The lead single, “Unmistakable Smell of Death,” exemplifies Owen’s impressive guitar work, featuring dynamic riffs and intricate sections. The song’s lyrical theme delves into the perspective of a killer who meets his demise at the hands of his intended victim, adding a dark and captivating narrative to the track.

The album cover art, created by Sandy Rezalmi, sets the tone for the release, which will be available in various formats, including CD, digital, and vinyl. Fans can pre-order “Next to Die” and explore the tracklist featuring songs like “Approach Your Grave,” “Skin Coffins,” and the title track, “Next to Die.”

In addition to the album release, Six Feet Under has announced a North American headlining tour scheduled to kick off in July. The band will be joined by Kataklysm and Wormhole for a series of brutal and unforgettable performances across the United States and Canada. Barnes is enthusiastic about hitting the road again and connecting with fans through their music, promising a thrilling live experience for all attendees.

As Six Feet Under continues to push the boundaries of death metal and explore new musical territories, fans can look forward to experiencing their latest offering, “Next to Die,” and witnessing the band’s intense energy on stage. With a legacy spanning over two decades, Six Feet Under remains a powerhouse in the metal scene, captivating audiences with their signature sound and uncompromising passion for their craft.
