DAGGERS debut new EP “El Mundo Kaput” with Shield Recordings
Belgian hardcore punk band Daggers is making waves with their latest offering, the EP “El Mundo Kaput.” Known for their intense and melodic sound, Daggers have crafted a collection of songs that hit hard with a mix of rock’n’roll hardcore and chaotic undertones. The EP consists of three tracks that showcase the band’s ability to blend aggression with infectious hooks that grab the listener’s attention.
Recorded live by Gilles Demolder at Jetson Studio in Kortrijk, “El Mundo Kaput” captures the raw energy and chemistry of the band in their element. Mastered by Adrien Schockert in Brussels, the EP represents a return to the band’s roots, focusing on speed and experimentation. The band explains, “We’re going back to the roots of Daggers: fast, and raw, with an experimental edge.” The decision to record live was intentional, allowing the band to capture the essence of their sound in a way that studio recordings often cannot.
Lead single “With Rue,” accompanied by a video directed by guitarist Thierry Tönnes, showcases a darker and more brutal side of Daggers. Described by the band as their most metal track to date, the song delves into themes of violence and chaos with a sense of urgency and anger that is palpable. The artwork for “El Mundo Kaput,” created by Tönnes, mirrors the raw and unfiltered nature of the music, with oil pastels and minimal post-processing used to convey a sense of immediacy and authenticity.
Daggers will be celebrating the release of “El Mundo Kaput” with a show at Magasin4 in Brussels on April 1st, followed by several other performances across Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. Looking ahead, the band is already working on a full-length album slated for release next year, coinciding with their 20th anniversary. Promising to delve further into dark and experimental hardcore territories, Daggers shows no signs of slowing down in their quest to push the boundaries of their sound.
With a dedication to their DIY ethos and a passion for creating music that is both intense and thought-provoking, Daggers continues to captivate audiences with their unique blend of hardcore punk and rock influences. “El Mundo Kaput” is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting chapter in the band’s journey, solidifying their place in the underground music scene as a force to be reckoned with.
