An investigative video footage released by independent journalist James O’Keefe and his team has shed light on potential election fraud in California. The video documented petition circulators allegedly paying homeless individuals in Los Angeles’ skid row to sign ballot petitions with the names and addresses of real registered voters, forging their signatures in the process.

The video captured these petition circulators offering $2-$3 per form to homeless individuals, encouraging them to sign as other registered voters. This unethical practice was further highlighted when O’Keefe and journalist Cam Higby visited the addresses associated with these forged signatures, only to find that the individuals connected to these names had not lived there for years.

These actions depicted in the video appear to be in violation of several California laws, including elections code Section 18613 which considers signing fictitious names or causing false signatures on petitions a felony. Additionally, California Penal Code 470 criminalizes knowingly falsifying a person’s name on legal or financial documents with fraudulent intent.

Furthermore, the video captured instances of physical assault towards O’Keefe’s team members, emphasizing the severity of the situation. O’Keefe reiterated the necessity for immediate arrests in response to these crimes to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. His team plans to continue releasing daily videos until the perpetrators are held accountable.

Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, a White House spokesperson expressed gratitude for journalists like O’Keefe who bring attention to election security concerns. President Trump also voiced his dismay on social media, emphasizing the urgency of addressing these violations promptly.

In a response to the video, California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office recognized the alleged criminal activity as a felony and advocated for thorough investigations and prosecutions. O’Keefe announced plans for future videos to reveal the identities of those funding these fraudulent activities, sharing receipts and check copies to further the investigation.

O’Keefe stressed the importance of state authorities taking immediate action against these crimes. He commended the California Secretary of State’s office for the seriousness with which they have approached the matter, indicating progress towards addressing these violations. It is clear that decisive measures are needed to uphold the sanctity of elections and safeguard democracy.
