Kanye West’s new album ‘Bully’ enters at No. 2 on chart, BTS’s ‘Arirang’ remains at the top
Kanye West and K-pop group BTS are two prominent artists in the music industry. BTS’s latest album, “Arirang,” has maintained its top position on the Billboard 200 chart for a second consecutive week. The album experienced a slight decline in equivalent album units, with 187,000 units sold in its second week compared to 641,000 units in its debut week. This marks BTS’s seventh No. 1 album, securing the largest sales week for a group album in over ten years. “Arirang” has broken records by spending more time at the top of the charts than any of BTS’s previous chart-topping albums, which each spent only one week at the summit.
On the other hand, Kanye West’s album “Bully” entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 2, making it his 14th album to reach the top 10. The album debuted with 152,000 equivalent album units, including 56,000 album sales. Despite Kanye West’s controversial comments in recent years, “Bully” performed impressively, maintaining his streak of successful album releases. However, it did not reach the No. 1 spot, ending Kanye’s longstanding run of No. 1 solo albums since his debut album, “The College Dropout,” peaked at No. 2 in 2004. Additionally, Kanye West’s previous solo album, “Donda 2,” was ineligible to chart due to Billboard’s bundling guidelines.
Both Kanye West and BTS have garnered significant attention in the music industry for their respective achievements on the charts. With BTS’s consistent dominance and Kanye West’s ongoing success, these artists continue to make a lasting impact with their music. It will be interesting to see how their future releases fare on the charts and how they further shape the music landscape with their innovative and groundbreaking work.
