Video shows Waymo self-driving car stuck at entrance of Miami-Dade condo community
A recent video footage captures a Waymo robotaxi seemingly stuck at the entrance of a condo community in Miami-Dade County, raising concerns about autonomous vehicles in Florida and the entire nation.
Just a few days ago in Atlanta, residents witnessed numerous Waymo vehicles crowding a local cul-de-sac. Following this event, Waymo reported that it had collaborated with its partner to rectify the routing issue. This incident occurred subsequent to the voluntary recall of approximately 4,000 robotaxis after a few of them ended up in flooded streets in Texas and California, resulting in stalling.
Waymo, despite the recent negative publicity, is still expanding its operations across South Florida, now increasing its coverage area by an additional 50 square miles, extending its service range to 150 square miles. Users can now book Waymo rides in Miami Beach, Bal Harbour, and the newly added areas of north Miami Beach, Biscayne Park, Miami Shores, Little River, and Miami Gardens. Moreover, Waymo is planning to extend its services to the vicinity of the Hard Rock Stadium and the Aventura Mall.
Regarding the recent incident at the condo community, NBC6 has reached out to Waymo for further information and is awaiting a response.
In Cuba, reports of probable drone attacks on Guantánamo and Key West were denied by the Cuban regime, while the Miami-Dade mayor and airport officials are set to unveil plans for a $33 million Airport Operations Center at Miami International Airport.
Meanwhile, in Florida, a significant retail theft ring worth $7.6 million, operating out of a family home, led to the arrest of 14 individuals. Furthermore, a report revealed that Florida students ranked last in reading scores due to a so-called ‘learning recession’. Sargassum blooms continue to impact Florida’s beaches, and a passenger onboard a Bahamian plane that crashed off the Florida coast has been charged in a drug conspiracy.
Ultimately, the footage of the Waymo robotaxi incident at the condo community has stirred further interest in the discussion surrounding driverless vehicles, prompting deeper exploration of their reliability and safety standards. It remains to be seen how Waymo and other companies in the autonomous vehicle industry will address these challenges and improve the public perception of self-driving technology.
