Eguzkierripa Rock festival set to take place in Aramaio
This weekend in Aramaio, the Eguzkierripa Rock festival will take place, promising a day filled with punk music, savory paella, and thought-provoking discussions, all organized by the Youth Assembly. This festival has become a beloved tradition in the town, thanks to the tireless efforts of the assembly members, former contributors, and other local residents who have all played a part in making this event a success.
The festival will commence on Saturday at noon with a captivating talk at the Erreka gaztetxe, where the topic of policing will be explored in depth. This session has been carefully prepared by the assembly members and is expected to spark compelling conversations among attendees. Following the discussion, a delightful communal paella lunch will be served at the Andramari hermitage in the Eguzkierripa neighborhood at 2:30 PM. The event will continue with the traditional ‘tribiala,’ adding a touch of festivity to the already vibrant atmosphere.
“People enjoy the concerts, but we believe it’s important to engage people from the morning and also offer opportunities for education,” shared Gari Arexolaleiba, a dedicated member of the Youth Assembly. The musical performances will kick off at 8:00 PM, featuring five bands this year: Lepue Zapaldu, Hankaz Gorak, Izorrai, Balaklab, and El Exterminio de la Raza del Monok. While the festival typically strives to introduce innovative sounds each year, this edition will lean towards punk music, providing a unique experience for attendees.
The organizers emphasize that the Eguzkierripa Rock festival goes beyond being a mere “party space.” They advocate for smaller, community-focused festivals over large-scale events, recognizing the significance of such gatherings in a tight-knit town like Aramaio. Despite facing budget constraints, they ensure that all bands are provided with equal opportunities to showcase their talents on stage.
One of the primary goals of the festival is to enhance the local community spirit, encouraging residents to actively participate in the event’s organization. “We need people willing to bring these kinds of initiatives forward together,” stated the organizers, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in ensuring the festival’s success.
Throughout the day, attendees can delight in the energetic performances, indulge in delicious food, and engage in meaningful discussions, all while supporting local talent and fostering a sense of unity within the community. The Eguzkierripa Rock festival promises to be an event that not only entertains but also enriches the cultural tapestry of Aramaio.
