Morocco’s Amazigh rock band, Meteor Airlines, has been selected to showcase the country’s unique musical talent at the prestigious Pol’and’Rock Festival in Poland. This historic achievement marks the first time a Moroccan or North African band has been featured at this renowned event since its inception in 1995. Scheduled for July 30 to August 1, 2026, at the Czaplinek-Broczyno airfield, the festival is known for attracting hundreds of thousands of attendees and is one of Europe’s largest free open-air music festivals.

Formed in Tinghir, southeastern Morocco, in 2016, Meteor Airlines infuses traditional Amazigh musical elements with a contemporary rock sound. The band sings songs in Tamazight and incorporates unique instrumentation to create a distinct fusion of styles. During their live performances, the band members are often seen wearing the azennar, a traditional Moroccan cape, adding a touch of cultural authenticity to their shows.

Meteor Airlines’ invitation to perform at the Pol’and’Rock Festival comes after years of increasing international recognition. The band received the National Prize for Amazigh Culture from IRCAM in 2023 for their outstanding Amazigh music album and has gained popularity performing at various venues across Morocco and Europe, including a notable show in Paris.

The organizers of the festival expressed their excitement in showcasing Meteor Airlines, highlighting the event’s commitment to promoting musical diversity and fostering international artistic discovery. The 2026 edition of the festival will continue to embody its core values of “Love, Friendship, Music,” further solidifying its reputation as a platform for celebrating global talents and fostering cultural exchange.

This prestigious invitation underscores the growing influence of Moroccan music on the global stage and serves as a testament to the band’s dedication to preserving and promoting the rich musical heritage of the Amazigh culture. Meteor Airlines’ participation in the Pol’and’Rock Festival represents a significant milestone for Moroccan music and represents a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and collaboration on an international platform.

As the band prepares to take the stage on the festival’s second main stage, known as the Tent Stage, on July 31, music enthusiasts and attendees can look forward to experiencing the unique blend of Amazigh traditions and rock music that Meteor Airlines has become known for. Their performance promises to be a celebration of Morocco’s rich cultural tapestry and a testament to the power of music in transcending borders and connecting people from diverse backgrounds.
