A newly released video captures the intense moment when Broward deputies and a Plantation officer fatally shot a suspected individual who was armed. The incident unfolded on Monday night in the 6300 block of Stirling Road.

According to Broward Sheriff’s Office officials, the law enforcement officers had responded to a Wawa gas station to apprehend a man with an active warrant for fleeing and eluding, who was also connected to other criminal cases. The suspect, who was armed with a gun, attempted to flee and sought refuge at a nearby McDonald’s. Deputies managed to tackle him in the parking lot of the fast-food restaurant and repeatedly instructed him to drop his weapon, as stated by Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony.

In a desperate move, the suspect aimed his gun at the officers, prompting six BSO deputies and a Plantation Police officer to open fire, resulting in the suspect being struck by bullets and eventually succumbing to his injuries, Tony disclosed. The identity of the deceased individual has not been made public.

A witness at the scene managed to capture the confrontation on their phone, later recounting the event, “They tell him to get on the ground, they keep telling him to put his hands up, put his hands in the air, ‘let me see your hands.’ I guess the guy didn’t reply, next thing I know I hear almost 30 shots coming from the guns, I drop my phone and run,” Gregory Jackson said.

Law enforcement officials remained at the scene the following day to gather evidence, emphasizing that the incident is still under investigation to determine the sequence of events that led to the fatal shooting.
