Pure Reason Revolution to release new studio album titled ‘Terrifying Angels’
Pure Reason Revolution has recently announced the release of their upcoming studio album, “Terrifying Angels,” along with the launch of the first single, “Spin Like Fire.” The album is set to come out on September 25, 2026, marking their fourth release since their revival in 2019. Lead vocalist Jon Courtney shares that his initial idea of an angel was more on the cute and comforting side, but the album takes a different approach, delving into the more overwhelming and terrifying aspects traditionally associated with angels.
The band’s previous album, “Coming up to Consciousness,” explored themes of sorrow and transience in a gentler manner. However, with “Terrifying Angels,” they have shifted towards a darker and more potent sound characterized by savage riffs, ominous soundscapes, and grungy layers while maintaining their transcendent harmonies. Courtney explains that the decision to veer towards a grittier and heavier sound felt like a natural progression from their last record.
The album features collaborations with a variety of musicians, both old friends and new partners. Songs like the eponymous “Terrifying Angels,” “Rumination Ruin,” and “Hold Your Wrath” were crafted in collaboration with musicians like Greg Jong and Paul Mullen, known for their work in bands like Losers and Yourcodenameis:milo. Bass contributions from artists like Mariusz Duda and Kristoffer Gildenlöw add depth to the album, while Bruce Soord of The Pineapple Thief handled the mixing duties, further enhancing the album’s sonic landscape.
The tracklist for “Terrifying Angels” includes songs like “Spin Like Fire,” “Black-Arrow Acrobats,” “Haywire Heart,” “Hold Your Wrath,” and more. Drawing inspiration from various sources, the band has crafted a collection of songs that promise a journey through dark and immersive musical landscapes. The album will be available in various formats, including Limited CD Digipak, Gatefold LP edition, and Digital Album.
In addition to the album release, Pure Reason Revolution has announced a UK headline tour scheduled for November 2026, with special guests Kyros accompanying them on the tour. The band also has live dates scheduled in Canada and Poland, promising a series of immersive and electrifying live performances for their fans worldwide.
