The metal band Sevendust is currently on tour with Disturbed and is simultaneously working on new music. From the tour’s start in Nampa, Idaho, on February 25, the band has already developed approximately 20 song ideas for their upcoming album.

Lead singer Lajon Witherspoon expressed excitement about the band’s progress, stating, “Yes, things are in the works… We are now looking inside the Sevendust music box with 20 or so songs that we’re kind of weeding through right now to see what we like, [that] we’re gonna work with this. And these are the cats in the band that are writing stuff and sending it in and put it into the box.” Sevendust members are actively writing new material during their time on the road and utilizing sound checks during Disturbed’s “The Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour” to continue their creative process.

Their most recent album, “Truth Killer,” was released last July through Napalm Records, with the band recording at Studio Barbarosa in Florida under the guidance of producer Michael Baskette. The album was well-received, earning an impressive 8/10 review from Metal Injection.

During their recent performance at Atlantic City’s Tropicana Showroom on March 15, Sevendust delighted fans by playing popular tracks like “Enemy” and “Angel’s Son.” The emotional highlight of the show was their rendition of “Seasons,” dedicated to Drowning Pool’s Dave Williams and Witherspoon’s late brother, Reginald.

The band’s original members – Witherspoon, Lowery, Connolly, Hornsby, and Rose – remain united in their passion for creating music. Sevendust garnered attention when their song “Everything” was featured on Heavy Consequence’s list of best metal songs from 2023.

A noteworthy development in their music is the incorporation of electronic elements, managed by guitarist Lowery. This new approach is showcased in tracks like “I Might Let the Devil Win,” where heavy industrial sounds blend seamlessly with memorable melodies, marking a departure from their traditional style.

Looking ahead, Sevendust has upcoming performances in cities like Las Vegas and Phoenix, promising an electrifying experience for all attendees. Despite their hectic tour schedule, the band’s commitment to producing fresh, innovative music remains steadfast, ensuring that fans have much to look forward to in the near future.
