Youth Rock Festival Comes Back to Nantwich Community Centre

Nantwich Youth and Community Centre is gearing up for another exciting round of “Nantwich Rock” this upcoming Friday, July 11. Building on the success of the initial “Mini-Rock Fest” at the NYCC venue in April, the upcoming “Youth Rock – Fest 2” promises a night filled with live music, featuring headline acts like The Dodgems, alongside local talents Cascade, R3volution, and Finn Edwards.

The brainchild of organizer and youth worker George, the Rock Fest is a platform created by individuals under 19 for individuals under 19. George emphasized that NYCC serves as their space, with the bands representing the voice of the New Nantwich Generation. Expressing a sense of empowerment, George stated, “We are diverse, we are loud and we are proud. That’s what NYCC and Nantwich Rocks stands for. Everyone is welcome – We are the future!”

Backing this exciting venture is Joe from the local rock band Twiches Rats, who sees the gig as just the beginning of something monumental. According to Joe, NYCC is exploring the concept of a ‘School of Rock,’ where young musicians can come together weekly to channel their energy and create music. Joe believes that Nantwich embodies a hub of high-voltage musical energy that is ready to make waves in the music scene.

The upcoming event will feature a lineup of talented acts including The Dodgems, a four-piece indie rock band known for their wide repertoire ranging from The Rolling Stones to Rage Against The Machine. R3volution, a teen indie band, will bring a mix of nostalgia and energy with their covers of classics from Busted to Paramore. Additionally, Cascade, a dynamic three-piece teen rock band, will showcase their talent with songs from Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana, The Cranberries, and more.

Local teenage chef Harrison will be offering food at the event to keep attendees fueled throughout the night. NYCC trustee and town councillor Anna Burton expressed her excitement about Nantwich, referring to it as a town with a big heart and massive energy. She highlighted the growing population of young families choosing Nantwich as an ideal place to nurture the next generation, emphasizing its role as a safe space for creativity.

Thanks to a grant from Cheshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, the upcoming Rock Event has received support to power up future music initiatives like the planned ‘School of Rock.’ Anna expressed gratitude towards the Commissioner, Dan, for enabling these opportunities. She encouraged everyone to join the festivities this Friday and be a part of the musical journey. Come and bring your friends for an evening filled with electrifying performances and loud music!

As the doors open at 5pm this Friday at the venue on Birchin Lane, Nantwich, the community eagerly awaits this free event tailored for under 19s. Organizers George and Eli, along with the performers and volunteers, are all set to provide an unforgettable experience at the Nantwich Youth Rock festival.
