The Dublin-based band, Sprints, has recently unveiled two new songs from their upcoming album, “All That Is Over”. Following the release of the lead single “Descartes” in June, the band has now shared “Rage” and “Beg” along with accompanying music videos.

As the band continues to build anticipation for their new album, director David Willis provides insight into the themes of the music videos for the new songs. He mentions that the idea for the videos originated from lead singer Karla’s desire to collaborate with her friends, who happen to be drag queens. The videos challenge stereotypes by showcasing drag queens behaving like rowdy men on a night out, creating an intriguing juxtaposition that challenges societal norms.

Speaking about the video concept, Karla expresses the band’s clear stance on LGBTQ+ rights, specifically transgender rights. She wanted to subvert traditional expectations by portraying drag queens as boisterous individuals causing a stir in public settings.

Regarding the first new track, “Rage”, the band explains the motivation behind the song. In a world where anger often overshadows constructive change, the band urges listeners not to let anger consume them. Rather than scapegoating marginalized communities, they encourage calling out deceptive figures who uphold false promises. Sonically, the song draws inspiration from bands like Dandy Warhols and Viagra Boys, incorporating elements of rumbling desert sounds and chaotic garage influences.

On the other hand, the track “Beg” encapsulates the overall themes explored throughout the upcoming album. Musically, it blends various elements to create a cohesive sound that represents the essence of “All That Is Over”. The song was initially inspired by a line from a Vladimir Holan poem and features a satirical tone that playfully questions moral superiority. Through playful lyrics and a witty approach, the band sheds light on the hypocrisy of those in power who preach ethical values while engaging in immoral behavior themselves.

With the release of these new songs and videos, Sprints continues to push boundaries and challenge perceptions through their music. The band’s commitment to addressing social issues and provoking thought through their artistry shines through in their latest releases, setting the stage for what promises to be an impactful album.
