Rock legends Aerosmith and rising rock star Yungblud have come together for an unexpected collaboration, unveiling a teaser of their new song “My Only Angel.” This collaboration follows their joint performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in honor of the late Ozzy Osbourne. The two acts had previously hinted at something “secret” on social media after the VMAs, sparking curiosity among fans.

In the teaser video shared by both Yungblud and Aerosmith, the artists are seen embracing as Steven Tyler cryptically exclaims, “We got a secret and nobody knows it.” This clip raised anticipation for their upcoming single. The snippet of the song features the two artists harmonizing on the lyrics, “Will you cry / if I called you my angel / gotta leave, gotta leave, gotta leave you one more time.” The chemistry between Yungblud, a 28-year-old rising star, and the 77-year-old Crazy singer, Steven Tyler, is evident as they share a tender moment in the teaser.

This forthcoming track will mark the first original release from Aerosmith since their 2012 album “Music From Another Dimension!” However, details regarding whether this collaboration is a standalone project or part of a larger endeavor remain unclear at this time. The joint effort between Aerosmith and Yungblud follows their performance at the VMAs, where they paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne by performing his iconic tracks “Crazy Train” and “Changes” before delivering a unique rendition of “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”

Despite the hype surrounding their collaboration, not everyone was impressed by the performance at the VMAs. The Darkness brothers, Justin and Dan Hawkins, expressed their criticism of the tribute, with Dan describing it as “another nail in the coffin of rock n roll” on social media. He further stated that he found it “cynical, nauseating, and just plain bad.” His sentiments appeared to be directed at Yungblud, whom he accused of leveraging the occasion to advance his own career.

Justin Hawkins, Dan’s brother and bandmate in The Darkness, defended Dan’s remarks, highlighting Yungblud’s attempt to align himself with Ozzy’s legacy without any tangible connection to the genre’s history. On his podcast, Justin criticized Yungblud’s positioning, suggesting that the younger artist lacked a genuine appreciation for the foundations of heavy metal. Despite the conflicting opinions on the collaboration, the anticipation for “My Only Angel” continues to build among fans eager to hear the full track and witness the unfolding of this unexpected musical partnership.
