ICE agent shoots Chicago woman 5 times after yelling ‘do something, b—-‘
A video has surfaced showing an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Chicago shouting “do something, b—-” at a local woman before shooting her five times, contrary to the government’s claim that agents were surrounded by multiple cars and the woman, Marimar Martinez, was armed with a semi-automatic weapon. Court documents now reveal discrepancies in the initial account provided by officials.
Martinez’s attorney, Christopher Parente, presented a body-camera video showing the shooting. The footage suggests that an agent, instead of being boxed in, purposely turned his vehicle into Martinez’s and provoked her before opening fire. This incident follows a chilling moment where an ICE agent held a family at gunpoint, captured on camera.
Despite initial accusations that Martinez was armed and drove her vehicle into the agents, threatening violence, prosecutors now confirm she did not display or point a weapon. The attorney also verified that Martinez possessed a valid concealed-carry license to carry a firearm. Martinez, a U.S. citizen employed at a school, boasts supportive character references. Another individual involved, Anthony Ruiz, also a U.S. citizen and self-employed as a DJ, faces federal charges for obstructing law enforcement.
The shooting in Chicago has caused unrest, fueling protests against ICE’s presence in local communities due to what authorities refer to as “Operation Midway Blitz.” The Department of Homeland Security reports over 1,000 migrants arrested in Chicago under this operation, including individuals involved in serious crimes such as pedophilia, child abuse, kidnapping, and gang activities.
DHS Acting Secretary McLaughlin commended the enforcement’s efforts during Operation Midway Blitz, emphasizing the arresting officers’ dedication despite operating without pay during a government shutdown. However, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker criticized ICE’s conduct in Chicago, labeling their treatment of protesters and detainees as inhumane and questioning their commitment to public safety and constitutional rights.
The tension surrounding ICE’s actions in Chicago has sparked concerns and calls for accountability. Despite claims of removing dangerous criminals from neighborhoods, the apprehension methods and treatment of individuals have stirred controversy and raised questions about the agency’s practices. The video evidence of an ICE agent’s aggressive behavior towards a local woman highlights the complexity and sensitivity of the issues plaguing immigration enforcement.
