Killer Mike and JID chosen to induct OutKast into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
OutKast is set to receive the prestigious honor of being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with an exciting lineup of famous friends to join them for the ceremony in Los Angeles on November 8. Among the notable figures slated to help induct the legendary duo of André 3000 and Big Boi are Killer Mike, JID, and Sleepy Brown.
These individuals share a deep connection with OutKast and recognize the significant impact the iconic duo had on hip-hop, fashion, and music in general throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Killer Mike, who later went on to form Run The Jewels alongside El-P, initially established himself as a member of the Dungeon Family and contributed memorable verses to OutKast’s albums such as Stankonia and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. Sleepy Brown, part of the production team Organized Noize, played a crucial role in OutKast’s ascension to stardom, having worked on the production of many of the group’s albums.
JID, a rising talent from Atlanta, has frequently cited OutKast as a major influence on his own work. He collaborated with Big Boi on Masego’s “Garden Party” in 2021 and has hinted at an upcoming project featuring a flute contribution from André 3000 on the deluxe edition of God Does Like Ugly.
OutKast will be joining an exclusive list of hip-hop acts inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with legends such as JAY-Z, Eminem, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Missy Elliott, and A Tribe Called Quest preceding them. The Class of 2025 includes artists from various genres, including rock, pop, and blues, such as The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Chubby Checker, and Bad Company.
The induction ceremony will take place at the Peacock Theater and will be livestreamed on Disney Plus, offering fans the opportunity to witness this momentous occasion. Tickets for the event are now on sale, allowing music enthusiasts to celebrate the contributions of OutKast to the music industry.
