New music releases for October 17-24
This past week brought a wave of exciting new music releases across various genres, including hardcore, screamo, punk, metal, rock, and more. From powerful EPs to new singles and announcements, there’s something for every music enthusiast to explore.
Speed, the Australian hardcore powerhouse, recently unveiled their new three-song EP, “All My Angels,” which delves into themes of grief and defiance. The title track, accompanied by an intense video, pays tribute to three close friends lost in recent years. Vocalist Jem Siow describes the song as a raw exploration of the pain and confusion that follows the loss of loved ones, especially in the case of suicide. The band is set to perform at Brooklyn’s Xanadu on October 25 for a release show before embarking on a European tour with Malevolence, Dying Wish, and Psyco-Frame.
Meanwhile, Equal Vision Records is gearing up to release a remastered deluxe edition of Endpoint’s 1992 hardcore classic, “Catharsis,” on November 19. The expanded release includes 17 tracks, including songs from the band’s split with Sunspring and a newly remastered version of “Caste.” Fiora, the Asheville metalcore outfit, dropped their new EP, “Iron Harvest,” which intricately balances chaos and precision, touching on themes of anxiety, death, and societal critique.
French rap-metal hardcore act, Rise of the Northstar, released a new single and video titled “Falcon” ahead of their upcoming album, “Chapter 04: Red Falcon Super Battle! Neo Paris War!!” The track serves as a message of hope dedicated to lost friends and resilient individuals. Kursha also dropped a new single titled “Touch Grass,” showcasing the band’s unique blend of metallic hardcore packed with dark energy and melodic nuances.
Angel Du$t recently announced their upcoming album, “Cold 2 The Touch,” set to release on February 13 via Run For Cover Records. The title track, accompanied by a new video, embodies the band’s fearless evolution, delivering a mix of punk and rock & roll energy. The band is gearing up for a U.S. tour followed by festival dates in early 2025.
Walking Wounded released a new two-track EP, “Bend the Knee / Pray for Death,” via Relapse Records, featuring cold, hostile tracks that pack a punch. Discourage unveiled a new cut titled “The Tyger” from their upcoming LP, “In Lieu of Flowers,” exploring themes of self-awareness and grappling with difficult questions. Heat announced their EP, “Act Of Mercy,” set to release on November 14, marking their return with five sharp, bouncy hardcore tracks.
Streets of Hate introduced preorders for INVOKE’s “Enemy Of The Sound Perception” CD, guaranteeing a relentless onslaught of hardcore energy throughout the nine-track album. Combust is set to tour Europe this winter with Speedway and Imposter, promising a high-energy experience for hardcore/metal fans across the continent.
