Well-known indie rock band set to drop debut album in 5 years
The Neighbourhood, often referred to as nbhd, is set to make a triumphant return to the music scene with the upcoming release of their latest album entitled “(((((ultraSOUND))))).” This announcement marks the band’s first album drop in a staggering five-year span, following the release of their previous full-length project, “Chip Chrome & the Mono-Tones,” in 2020.
Described as a powerful homage to the sounds that defined the band’s origins, the album promises to blend the raw energy of ’90s alternative rock with a contemporary, reflective edge. Drawing inspiration from both Brit-pop influences and the signature Californian indie sound that has become synonymous with The Neighbourhood, “(((((ultraSOUND)))))” is set to be a lyrical exploration of intimacy, self-awareness, heartbreak, disillusionment, and emotional vulnerability.
The band unveiled three brand-new singles in conjunction with the album’s announcement, including tracks titled “OMG,” “Lovebomb,” and “Private.” Fans eager to experience these new offerings firsthand can enjoy these singles on all major streaming platforms and have the option to presave or preorder “(((((ultraSOUND)))))” to be among the first to hear the full album upon its release on November 14.
Originating from Newbury Park, California, The Neighbourhood officially formed in 2011 and is composed of lead vocalist Jesse Rutherford, guitarists Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels, bassist Mikey Margott, and drummer Brandon Fried. The band’s musical journey began with the release of two EPs, leading to a record deal with Columbia Records and their debut album, “I Love You,” hitting shelves in 2013. The album’s massive success was propelled by the chart-topping single “Sweater Weather,” which peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved Diamond certification. Alongside this iconic track, The Neighbourhood has continued to captivate audiences with hits such as “Afraid,” “Daddy Issues,” “Softcore,” “You Get Me So High,” “Reflections,” and “The Beach,” solidifying their status as indie rock powerhouses.
In addition to their impressive discography, The Neighbourhood’s lead singer, Jesse Rutherford, embarked on a solo venture last year with the release of a self-titled album. During an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in September 2024, Rutherford shared his motivation behind pursuing a solo project in tandem with his work with the band, emphasizing the importance of individual artistic expression and growth.
As the anticipation for “(((((ultraSOUND)))))” continues to build among fans and music enthusiasts alike, The Neighbourhood’s resurgence promises to deliver a nostalgic yet fresh sonic experience that pays homage to their roots while venturing into new emotional territory. The band’s forthcoming album serves as a testament to their enduring musical legacy and unwavering commitment to pushing artistic boundaries.
