On the other hand, Black Warrior Riverkeeper is dedicated to cleaning up litter in Birmingham. They work tirelessly every weekend to remove hundreds of pounds of litter from various areas like streams, roadsides, and ditches.

Their impact is significant. In 2025 alone, the group has successfully organized 26 cleanups, resulting in 22,383 pounds of litter being collected, which is equivalent to 11 tons. They have engaged over 649 volunteers in their efforts.

Black Warrior Riverkeeper has two upcoming events this weekend. On Saturday, October 25, they will be meeting at Calvary Resurrection Christian Church from 9-11 AM for a cleanup activity. On Sunday, there will be a Birmingham Watershed Cleanup at East Lake Park on October 26 at 9:00 AM.
