After an impressive 31 weeks, Fionn’s track “Blow” has finally made it to the top of the Billboard Canada Airplay charts. The rock duo, consisting of twin sisters from Vancouver, has seen their song climb to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Canada Modern Rock Airplay chart, dated Oct. 25. This achievement comes after the release of their latest album, Scum, under the label 604 Records.

The song “Blow” is described as a fusion of frustration and sarcasm, encapsulated in a classic pop-rock sound. The siblings behind Fionn, Brianne and Alanna Finn-Morris, refer to the track as a “femme-rage infused song,” pointing to its anti-mansplaining message. The lyrics reflect their experiences as women in the professional world, highlighting the constant struggle of being underestimated and disrespected by men. The sisters express their frustration at having to suppress their anger and maintain a sweet demeanor in the face of condescension from male counterparts.

By reaching No. 1 on the Canadian rock airplay charts, Fionn stands alongside other Canadian rock stars like Three Days Grace, who also hold the top position with their track “Apologies” on the Mainstream Rock chart. In addition to Fionn’s success, emerging Canadian country artists Sacha and Restless Road are making an impact on the charts with their debut entry, “Shooting Star,” which has landed at No. 43 on the All-Format chart. The emotionally charged country ballad reflects on lost love and the hope for a second chance through a single wish.

Sacha, one of the voices behind “Shooting Star,” emphasizes the pain of almost-love that lingers even after letting go. Collaborating with Restless Road, the track showcases the raw vulnerability and vocal prowess of both artists. As the song gains traction on the Country airplay chart, Sacha’s presence on the Canadian Country music scene continues to solidify, building on previous successes like “Hey Mom I Made It.”

This week’s Airplay charts also feature other Canadian artists making their mark. Mackenzie Porter & Owen Riegling, Sully Burrows, High Valley, and Dean Brody are among those climbing the ranks on various charts. Tedy’s “I Hope” makes an appearance at No. 46, while Cameron Whitcomb’s “Options” and The Washboard Union’s “Somebody To Love” follow suit on different charts.

As the music landscape continues to evolve, Canadian talents like Fionn, Sacha, and the rest of the emerging artists are carving out their spaces on the charts. With each new release and debut, the diverse range of music from Canada is being celebrated and shared on a global platform like Billboard’s Airplay charts.
