Halloween in Saratoga isn’t just a night; it’s a full-blown celebration. On Saturday, November 1, the Halloween festivities continue with Saratoga’s VooDoo Ball at 7 pm in the Saratoga Music Hall, promising a quirky evening filled with music and mischief.

If you’ve been following the local music scene, you might recognize Tops of Trees from their performances at events such as the Belmont on Broadway concert in June 2024 or last December’s Saratoga New Year’s Eve show on Ellsworth Place. The funky rock band recently released a music video for “Upstate,” paying homage to the local area, and is gearing up for their upcoming album, “Do Something,” set to release on December 11. Fans are in for a sneak peek of the album with some of the new tracks being previewed at VooDoo Ball, where they’ll be sharing the stage with The NolaNauts, a 10-piece band from Albany with a New Orleans-inspired sound.

Talking about the upcoming event, frontman Damian Ubriaco of Tops of Trees mentions the different vibes between the two bands. He shares that, while The NolaNauts bring a New Orleans funk style, Tops of Trees has a more Memphis-influenced sound. Both groups have been working hard to ensure a fantastic show with a perfect blend of music and dance. Plus, attendees at VooDoo Ball get to join a costume contest and compete for the best-dressed title.

Tops of Trees’ latest album builds on their previous hit single, “Light On,” showcasing their musical growth with a mix of soulful melodies, rock elements, and infectious rhythms that will get audiences moving. Drummer Troy Helmer explains that the new album, “Do Something,” is all about inspiring action in life, love, and community, inviting listeners to break free from inertia. The band plans to bring that lively spirit to the Halloween weekend performance, promising an evening filled with high energy and a touch of the bizarre.
