Final Frontier Tour to Travel Across North America in 2026 for Farewell Journey
After more than 50 years of influencing arena rock, Journey has announced its final tour, marking the end of one of the most successful touring legacies in rock history. The Final Frontier Tour will kick off on 28 February 2026 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and will encompass 60 arena shows across North America, concluding on 2 July in Laredo, Texas, signaling the band’s decision to close the chapter on their touring ventures.
Speculation around Journey’s future was ignited by comments from founding guitarist Neal Schon on social media, hinting at internal changes within the band. However, Schon later confirmed that long-time keyboardist Jonathan Cain would stay on board for the final tour. With this farewell journey set to span 2026 and 2027, fans will have a last chance to witness the band’s extensive music catalog that has defined American stadium rock for decades.
“We’re planning a spectacular production with all the hits, deep cuts, energy, and spectacle,” Schon mentioned. “This tour is a gesture of gratitude from us and also the first step towards what comes next.” Cain echoed this sentiment, expressing that the tour is a way to show gratitude, foster connections, and offer fans one final opportunity to experience the band’s magic together.
Originally forming in 1973 in San Francisco with ties to Santana and The Steve Miller Band, Journey shifted from their early progressive rock roots to a more melodic sound with the arrival of Steve Perry in 1977. This change set the stage for a string of successful albums including Infinity, Evolution, and Departure. The band achieved global fame with their 1981 album Escape, which produced hits like Open Arms, Who’s Crying Now, and the iconic Don’t Stop Believin’. Their 1983 album Frontiers continued their success with tracks like Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) and Faithfully, solidifying their status in the rock genre.
Despite facing challenges like Perry’s exit in the late 1990s, Journey continued to reinvent themselves. Filipino vocalist Arnel Pineda joined the band in 2007, bringing a new dynamic to their performances and ensuring their ongoing success on the international touring circuit for over 15 years.
The current Journey lineup, comprising Schon, Cain, Pineda, drummer Deen Castronovo, bassist Todd Jensen, and keyboardist Jason Derlatka, will deliver their final performances on the upcoming tour. While international tour dates are yet to be confirmed, Australian fans might need to travel for a chance to see the band live. The band is expected to announce a second leg in 2027, with major US cities like New York and Los Angeles still to be included in the tour itinerary.
For now, North American fans have the exclusive opportunity to witness Journey’s final farewell lap as tickets go on sale starting 14 November (local time), with select presales available from 11 November for cardholders. This farewell tour promises to be a nostalgic journey through the band’s illustrious career, culminating in a final chapter for one of rock music’s most enduring acts.
