Businesses along East Colfax Avenue are facing challenges due to ongoing construction for the East Colfax BRT Project, but help is on the way in the form of a punk rock festival. The Colfax Carousal Punk Fest is set to take place this Saturday, Nov. 15, to raise much-needed funds for these struggling businesses. The BRT project aims to improve transit infrastructure, enhance pedestrian and bike connections, and provide various other benefits.

The festival will be hosted at three iconic Colfax bars and music venues, with the goal of supporting businesses adversely affected by the construction. The BRT project will bring about better transit service on the corridor, increase job access, and create more comfortable and safer commuting options. While the project is set for completion by 2027, the immediate impact on local businesses cannot be overlooked.

Denon Moore, from the Colfax Avenue Business Improvement District, stressed the importance of the community coming together to support these businesses during this challenging time. Moore highlighted the immense need for support, especially in light of the construction disruptions. The festival promises an evening of punk music, featuring 18 bands, all from the local scene. Tickets are available for $30 for access to all venues or $15 for a single venue.

The event organizers have made it clear that all proceeds from the festival will go directly back to the participating venues, ensuring that the financial benefits are felt where they are needed the most. The lineup of bands includes a diverse range of punk acts, with something for every music lover to enjoy. By attending the festival, patrons can not only have a great time but also contribute positively to the local economy.

The Colfax Carousal Punk Fest represents a grassroots effort to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by the ongoing construction. It is a testament to the power of community support and the resilience of local businesses in overcoming challenges. The punk festival serves as a beacon of hope during a challenging time, shining a light on the importance of collective action in times of need. As the community comes together to enjoy a night of music and solidarity, the impact of their support will reverberate through the local business community.
