MDR airs Schlagershow despite chaos from ARD over Florian Silbereisen

An unexpectedly canceled Schlager show is making its return to the MDR program after months of delay. The program chaos that occurred in August is now a thing of the past, and the show is finally airing.

In a peculiar TV incident, confusion arose in the ARD programming at the end of August. The MDR had to abruptly remove a planned repeat from the schedule after media reports highlighted an embarrassing programming error.

Now, with a significant delay of several months, the Schlager show is back on screens. On Friday (November 14), the channel will finally air the postponed episode, this time without any scheduling conflicts.

The reason behind the previous program change was quite unusual: Florian Silbereisen was set to appear in two different ARD shows simultaneously. While the Schlager star took over hosting duties for the pregnant Esther Sedlaczek on the “Große Maus-Show” on August 30, a repeat of the “Ross Antony Show” was also scheduled to air concurrently. Silbereisen had been a guest in this show with his band Klubbb3. However, following an article from schlagerprofs.de, the ARD decided against this unusual double booking.

The original scheduling had raised eyebrows, with a host competing against himself in the program considered a rare planning oversight. Instead, the MDR aired “Die größten Hits aus dem Osten” from 2020. “Ross Antony’s Best-of-Schlagershow” with the theme “Party time” quietly disappeared from the schedule, with the broadcaster not providing an official explanation for the sudden change.

The now aired rerun of the show features a wide array of artists. Ross Antony welcomes familiar Schlager stars such as Feuerherz, Thomas Anders, Maite Kelly, DJ Ötzi, and Ben Zucker in his “Party time” episode. Additionally, Ute Freudenberg, die Draufgänger, Julia Lindholm, and many other artists make an appearance in the Best-of edition. The show airs on Friday evening at 8:15 p.m. and runs for over two hours. By the way, Florian Silbereisen recently achieved a significant career milestone.
