The array of musical styles varies, but all are worth exploring, offering an opportunity to discover something new while immersing in the live music experience. This week, we introduce three new entries, each with a unique local tie.
Leoni Jane Kennedy, accompanied by Eóin de Paor, captured our hearts with her performance. We had the chance to witness her incredible talent during two consecutive nights where she showcased her vocal and guitar skills. The first night saw her delivering a mesmerizing solo acoustic set in support of Perfect Beasts in Reading. The following evening, at Aldershot’s West End Centre, she headlined her New World Woman show, presenting acoustic renditions of Rush’s classic songs. Leoni’s impressive performance highlighted her prowess in both vocals and guitar playing. Her innovative acoustic interpretations of Rush’s intricate music not only maintained the original virtuosity but also underscored the strength of the songwriting. Eóin de Paor, her former music teacher and a member of the Rush tribute band Moving Pictures, joined her onstage, enhancing the musical experience with his skillful musicianship. The track “Cold Fire” is a captivating selection from Leoni’s New World Woman album.
The alt-rock festival Reading Rising is entering its sixth edition, expanding to a two-day event this weekend at the Face Bar on November 15th and 16th. Still Remains, hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, will headline Saturday’s lineup with their latest single, “The Wound and the Weapon.” The festival features a mix of alt-rock and metalcore on Saturday and a punkier vibe on Sunday. Sunday’s headliners, Millie Manders and the Shutup, promise an exciting performance, building on their prior show at the Acoustic Couch in Bracknell in 2018.

Who Ate All the Crayons, fondly known as Crayons, delight audiences with their indie folk rock sound in their latest single, “Saving File.” The band has been actively performing, from the Fan Zone at Reading FC to a recent tour across southern England, including a memorable show in Wales and a hometown gig at the Purple Turtle. Catch them live at Haig House in Newbury on December 13th.
