Patriarchs in Black have recently unveiled their new single, “I’m Coming Home,” accompanied by an official music video available for viewing on Metalville’s official YouTube channel. The band is proud to introduce a 12-bar blues track written by guitarist and songwriter Dan Lorenzo. Expressing the challenges of creating a unique piece in a genre that has been extensively explored, Lorenzo aims to captivate listeners with this fresh take on a classic style. With vocals by Frankie Diaz, the song also features Johnny Kelly on drums and Sal on bass. Notably, this track marks the band’s first venture into incorporating harmonica into their music, adding an exciting new dimension to their sound.

Patriarchs in Black released their fourth album, named “Home,” in the recent past, courtesy of Metalville. In collaboration with former Type O Negative and Danzig drummer Johnny Kelly, as well as guitarist and riff-writer Dan Lorenzo from Hades and Non-Fiction, the band continues to redefine their musical journey. Their origins trace back to the end of 2021, leading up to the release of their debut single “Demon of Regret” in January 2022, followed by the unveiling of their debut album “Reach For The Scars” in July 2022. Subsequent albums, including “My Veneration” in October 2023 and “Visioning” in July 2024, established the band firmly within the doom metal genre.

Through their latest album, “Home,” Dan and Johnny sought to surprise audiences with a diverse collection of tracks that transcend the norms of doom metal. Drawing parallels to the repetitiveness depicted in the movie “Groundhog Day,” Lorenzo emphasizes the importance of innovation and experimentation in their music. By incorporating acoustic guitars, violin, flute, and heavy riffs alongside their signature sound, the band showcases their commitment to novelty and exploration. The album’s title, “Home,” holds personal significance for Lorenzo, reflecting on the comfort and nostalgia associated with returning to familiar territory amidst life’s travels.

Despite encountering constraints in selecting tracks for inclusion on their album, Dan and Johnny express their gratitude for collaborating with exceptional vocalists and bassists to elevate the musical experience for their audience. The band’s endeavors have culminated in the creation of “Home,” a potent collection of songs that embody their innovative spirit and commitment to artistic evolution. As the band continues to captivate listeners with their distinct sound and thoughtful compositions, Patriarchs in Black invite music enthusiasts to explore the depths of their latest album and embrace the emotional journey it embarks upon.
