Eric Clapton releases music video for “Higher Power” from deluxe reissue of “Journeyman”

Eric Clapton has debuted a new animated music video for the song “Higher Power,” which was written by Jerry Williams and is included as one of the bonus tracks on the recently released deluxe reissue of his 1989 album, Journeyman. This reissue is available in digital format, as well as on CD and LP, and includes a remastered version of the original album along with four additional bonus tracks. Among these bonus tracks, three were recorded during the original Journeyman sessions and are being released for the first time.

In describing Journeyman, Clapton emphasized a desire to be known as a craftsman, saying, “It’s what I want to be known as; I like to think I’m a craftsman. I think I’m always working on mastering my craft.” Journeyman, which was first released on November 6, 1989, marked Clapton’s 11th studio album. The album featured collaborations with notable artists such as George Harrison, Phil Collins, Chaka Khan, Daryl Hall, and Robert Cray.

Journeyman performed exceptionally well on the music charts, reaching the #1 spot on the Billboard Rock Albums chart and peaking at #16 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album produced hit singles like “Pretending” and “Bad Love,” both of which reached #1 on the rock charts. Clapton’s performance on “Bad Love” even earned him a Grammy award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
