Teen Spotlight: Hannah Greathouse loves rock music and photography
Hannah Greathouse, a 17-year-old from the Mid-Ohio Valley, credits her love for rock music and photography as defining aspects of her personality. Raised by grandparents who immersed her in the sounds of rock music, Greathouse’s passion for the genre took root early on. A highlight for her was attending a rock festival in Ohio, where she had the opportunity to see some of her favorite bands perform live.
While Greathouse enjoys singing and is currently learning to play the guitar, her main musical pursuit lies in the color guard of the Warren High School Marching Band. For four years, she has dedicated hours every day to perfecting her skills in this ensemble. In addition to her involvement in the marching band, she is pursuing graphic design and video production at the Washington County Career Center and Washington State College of Ohio, envisioning a career in marketing for rock festivals.
Despite her rigorous schedule balancing academics and extracurricular activities, Greathouse remains actively engaged in various school clubs and organizations, such as Business Professionals of America, student council, and Students Solving Problems. Juggling multiple commitments, she meticulously organizes her tasks and events in a planner to ensure she stays on top of everything.
As she navigates her senior year, Greathouse is considering numerous colleges for her next academic chapter, keeping her options open while exploring different possibilities. Her involvement in Business Professionals of America has been particularly rewarding, offering her the chance to delve into entrepreneurship and business presentations, an experience she values greatly. For Greathouse, the people she meets through her pursuits are just as important as the activities themselves, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared growth.
Embracing the mindset of “go for it because the worst thing anyone can say is no,” Greathouse approaches life with a fearless attitude, unafraid to step out of her comfort zone and try new things. Photography plays a significant role in her daily routine, capturing moments at skydiving centers with her grandfather, who is an active member of the skydiving community. While she eagerly awaits her 18th birthday to try skydiving herself, Greathouse finds joy in documenting the experiences of others through her photography.
Through her diverse interests and unwavering dedication, Hannah Greathouse exemplifies a driven and passionate individual on the cusp of a new chapter in her academic and professional journey. Her love for rock music, involvement in various organizations, and enthusiasm for photography continue to shape her identity as she looks toward a future filled with exciting possibilities.
