Monday Mixtape Features New Music from Barry Manilow, Orville Peck, and AZUL
Queer Music News provides updates on the latest music releases by LGBTQ+ artists and other beloved musicians. This week’s Monday Mixtape features new music from Barry Manilow, Orville Peck, and AZUL.
Barry Manilow, the award-winning music icon, recently dropped a video for his new single “Once Before I Go.” The track, produced by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Demonte Posey, was written by Peter Allen and Dean Pitchford. Filmed at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, the video was directed by Jamie Thraves. This release coincides with Manilow’s upcoming series of farewell performances in nine U.S. cities this January. Unfortunately, no tour dates were announced for Dallas or Texas.
Orville Peck, a prominent queer country artist, released the Appaloosa EP earlier this month. The EP features a collection of Western-inspired tunes expressing themes of love, action, and emotion. One particular highlight is a new duet with Noah Cyrus, along with a music video for the lead single “Drift Away.” Additionally, Peck covers “Maybe This Time,” originally performed by Liza Minnelli in the film adaptation of Cabaret.
AZUL, a pop singer-songwriter based in Raleigh, announced her latest EP, “Death, Love & Disco,” set to release on Thursday, December 4. The EP includes her singles “Lies” and “Stress Dreams” and showcases a blend of her Argentinian roots with influences from jazz, Broadway, soul, gospel, blues, disco, and Latin folk rock. AZUL’s unique sound brings a fresh perspective to the indie music scene, incorporating elements of big femme and queer energy.
In addition to these exciting releases, the concert calendar for the upcoming weeks includes performances by David Byrne, Sidepiece, KATSEYE, The Aces, Shinedown, Zara Larsson, Jonas Brothers, Jim Brickman, Brandy, Monica, Erykah Badu, and Lady A at various venues across Dallas.
