A chilling incident took place in Washington, D.C., recently, as a video captured part of a daring daylight attack on National Guard members, resulting in the death of one soldier and leaving another in critical condition. The dramatic eyewitness video, obtained by members of the West Virginia National Guard from a passing vehicle, offers a glimpse into the harrowing ambush. The footage briefly shows the fallen troops lying on the sidewalk on 17th Street NW near Farragut West Metro Station around 2:15 p.m.

The assailant, armed with a .357 revolver, unleashed 10 to 15 rounds in the attack, as revealed in federal charging documents. The shooter, who entered the United States in September 2021 under Operation Allies Welcome – a program for Afghan evacuation and resettlement initiated by the Biden administration, had no prior criminal record. Subsequently, he faces severe charges, including first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed. Attorney General Pam Bondi has stated the Department of Justice’s intention to pursue the death penalty.

The victims of this tragic event, identified as Beckstrom and Wolfe, are members of the West Virginia National Guard, dispatched to the nation’s capital by President Donald Trump earlier in the year with the objective of addressing crime in the city. Rep. Riley Moore shared that Wolfe is currently in a critical state and that his family is requesting prayers for his recovery. Wolfe, whose father serves as a deputy sheriff near Moore’s county, aspired to serve his country as a National Guardsman, continuing the family’s tradition of service.

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey echoed Moore’s sentiments, emphasizing that Andrew Wolfe is battling for his life, and his loved ones are seeking support through prayers from people across the country and globally. Morrisey highlighted the seriousness of Wolfe’s condition, underscoring the deep concern and pride that West Virginians hold for their Guard. The attack’s impact reverberates through the community, highlighting the need for accountability and justice to prevail. Morrisey stressed the importance of serving justice in honoring the fallen soldier and offering reassurance to the affected families and communities. The strength and resilience of Andy Wolfe shine through, prompting a collective call for continued prayers and support during this challenging time.
