Hammers to Release Debut Album “Death Wobbles” in January
Australian heavy band Hammers is set to release their debut album, Death Wobbles, via Summerland Records on January 23, 2026. This release symbolizes a significant milestone for the band’s growth since solidifying their current lineup back in 2017.
Originally hailing from the Northern Rivers region, Hammers has established themselves as a prominent figure in the national heavy music scene. Their reputation was built on extensive touring, a collection of impactful EPs, and a sound that draws influences from post-hardcore, alternative metal, and classic rock elements. The upcoming album, Death Wobbles, showcases the band’s evolution with 12 tracks that expand their musical horizons and lyrical themes.
Accompanying the album announcement is the unveiling of the title track, “Death Wobbles,” which was expertly mixed and mastered by producer Forrester Savell, recognized for his work with renowned acts such as Karnivool, Sunk Loto, and Animals As Leaders. The song exemplifies Hammers’ signature muscular riffs, captivating hooks, and rhythmic intensity.
Lead vocalist Lucas Stone delves into the metaphorical world of surfing and skating to explore life’s unpredictability in the song, viewing it as an embodiment of struggle, mortality, intention, and consequence. The track serves as a vivid representation of the emotional conflicts individuals face as they navigate challenges and search for meaning in their experiences.
The music video for “Death Wobbles,” directed by James Latter, takes the conceptual exploration further, blending elements of board culture with high-energy performance footage. Filmed at the “Death Bowl” in Pizzey Park, the video draws parallels between the violent shake of a physical “death wobble” and the inner turmoil associated with personal instability. Stone emphasizes the spontaneous nature of the video’s creation, fueled by the band’s collective energy and commitment akin to dropping into a deep bowl.
Hammers made their initial mark with EPs like Homeblokes in 2018 and Kicking Goals in 2020, which hinted at their dynamic mix of aggression, melody, and theatrical rock elements. The journey towards a full-length album began organically without a fixed plan, guided by the principle of serving the essence of each song.
Stone explains that the band prioritizes unity, fostering a collaborative environment that values creativity and collective well-being. Their commitment to growth is evident in their upcoming release, Death Wobbles, described as their most mature offering yet. Produced by Forrester Savell and engineered by Michael Campbell and Luke Palmer, the album draws influences from a diverse range of musical acts, reflecting the band’s multifaceted approach to heavy music.
Thematically, Death Wobbles delves into profound topics like apathy, nihilism, the frailty of humanity, political strife, greed, fragmented communities, and emotional exhaustion. Hammers aim to cut through surface noise with their heavy riffs, bold grooves, and unfiltered emotional expression, presenting the album as a cathartic release delivered with urgency and authenticity.
With a history of electrifying live performances, including their first international tour in 2024, Hammers have continued to captivate audiences alongside acts like He Is Legend, Mammal, and The Butterfly Effect. Their ongoing Australian headline tour and future plans for more live shows, merchandise releases, and music videos set the stage for the much-anticipated release of Death Wobbles in January 2026.
