Andy Colonico, a native of Welland, Ontario, rose to fame as the lead singer of Revive the Rose before transitioning to country music, blending the vigor of rock with poignant storytelling. His debut single “HELL YEAH” released in 2024 swiftly gained popularity for its celebration of small-town pride with an anthemic vibe. Collaboration with guitarist Peter Alexander on “All Roads Lead to You” in 2025 expanded his musical horizons. With the recent launch of his EP “The Turbo” on October 24, 2025, Andy Colonic is gearing up for a vinyl release party on December 6, enriching the tapestry of Canadian country music.

The evolution of Colonel’s music, especially seen in his song “All Roads Lead to You,” exemplifies his transition from rock to country. The decision to shift genres stemmed from the southern rock/cowboy essence inherent in the track, resonating with both Colonel and guitarist Peter Alexander. The creative transformation was solidified during a writing session in Nashville, where the duo, accompanied by Dave Thompson, found the perfect riff to set the tone for the song.

In “HELL YEAH,” a track resonating with themes of community and nostalgia, Colonel croons about the timeless camaraderie found in small towns. The lyrics, notably referencing the Welland Jackfish baseball team, evoke memories of local pride and fellowship. The song, cleverly interwoven with hometown references, served as the 2024 theme song for the Welland Jackfish, forging a deep connection with Colonel’s roots.

With “The Turbo” now out, Colonel reflects on the significance of the project, crafted to encapsulate moments from his twenties as he entered a new decade. The EP serves as a testament to cherished memories, a musical keepsake for friends and fans alike. The decision to release the record on vinyl pays homage to the nostalgic allure of physical records while fostering a personal connection with Colonel’s audience, especially dedicated to Handlebar Hanks, a cherished haunt of the artist.

Collaborating with an array of artists is a dream for Colonel, and he envisions a musical rendezvous with the Zac Brown Band, drawn to the band’s penchant for genre-defying melodies and poignant lyrics. As he navigates the transition from fronting a rock group to a solo country career, Colonel emphasizes the authenticity of his music, weaving personal narratives with universal themes of growth and friendship. The fusion of his band’s collective experience and his solo endeavors allows for a seamless blend of emotions and stories that resonate with both longtime followers and new listeners, creating a bridge between past musical influences and present-day narratives.
