Ukraine’s rapidly expanding domestic weapons industry has recently made headlines with the unveiling of the FP-1/2 strike drones and the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile by Fire Point. The release of the first production video showcasing these cutting-edge technologies offers a rare glimpse into the country’s efforts to manufacture scalable, long-range strike systems.

The FP-2 strike drone has garnered attention for its deployment in newly liberated areas and advanced positions, where its payload capacity, deployment speed, and short-range strike capabilities are crucial. Special operations units have praised the FP-2 for its role in confirmed strikes throughout 2025, particularly in engagements targeting fortified Russian positions, ammunition depots, and mobile logistics targets.

Technical specifications provided by Fire Point illustrate the capabilities of the FP-2, including a 6-meter wingspan, a maximum takeoff weight of 215 kg, cruise speeds ranging from 140 to 180 km/h, and a top speed of 205 km/h. With a 105 kg payload capacity, the FP-2 is optimized for frontline missions within a range of up to 200 km, making it versatile for striking both stationary and moving targets.

Ukrainian officers have highlighted the operational niche filled by the FP-2, bridging the gap between the deep-strike capabilities of the FP-1 and larger, more vulnerable strike drones. Operational feedback has driven ongoing improvements in responsiveness, low-altitude stability, and resistance to electronic warfare, leading to increased adoption of the FP-2 in missions throughout 2025.

The FP-1, marketed as a deep-strike solution, supports long-range operations and engagements with static targets, boasting a payload capacity of up to 60 kg and a flight time of up to 7 hours. Fire Point has also revealed details about the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile, designed for long-range strikes reaching distances of up to 3,000 kilometers, enhancing Ukraine’s military capabilities.

The FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile features a warhead weighing approximately one metric ton and achieves cruising speeds between 850 and 950 km/h. Utilizing combined inertial and satellite guidance, the missile can be prepared for launch within 20 to 40 minutes, depending on configuration, underscoring its strategic value in modern warfare scenarios.

With Denmark authorizing Ukraine to establish defense manufacturing on its soil, a new facility is set to open in Vojens to produce solid rocket fuel, signaling enhanced support from Europe for Ukraine. The partnership reflects a pivotal moment in Ukraine’s defense industry development, bolstering its capacity to innovate and bolster its defenses.

Overall, the emergence of the FP-1/2 drones and the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile exemplifies Ukraine’s commitment to expanding its domestic weapons industry and enhancing its military capabilities amidst ongoing security challenges. The detailed look into Fire Point’s production line and testing sequences signifies a significant milestone in Ukraine’s defense modernization efforts, positioning the country at the forefront of innovative defense technologies.
