Pelican’s latest EP, titled “Ascending,” is scheduled for release on January 23rd, 2026, through the label Run For Cover. The EP, comprising four songs, will be available in various colored vinyl editions and includes tracks from the band’s “Flickering Resonance” period. Notably, one of the songs, an alternate version of “Cascading Crescent,” features a guest appearance by Geoff Rickly, best known as the vocalist of Thursday. Previously, this particular version of the track could only be found on a limited 7″ vinyl release. However, as of December 10th, listeners can stream it online, accompanied by a music video.

The EP consists of “Ascending,” recorded during the “Flickering Resonance” sessions, as well as “Adrift” and “Tending The Embers,” both of which were initially made available in digital and physical formats in 2024. The tracklist for “Ascending” includes the following songs: “Ascending,” “Cascading Crescent” featuring Geoff Rickly, “Adrift,” and “Tending The Embers.”

Fans can now preorder the EP through the link pelicansong.lnk.to/ascending. In a statement, the band expressed their excitement about this new project, mentioning that the title track “Ascending” was initially meant for a limited vinyl release of “Cascading Crescent” and was performed live with Geoff Rickly in Cleveland during a tour intersection last July. The band is eager for a wider audience to experience how Geoff’s contributions reshape the song.

Adding to the excitement, Laurent, a member of Pelican, collaborated with Will Killingsworth from Dead Air Studios to create a custom reverb pedal named Resonance. This pedal offers unique sound responses, ranging from subtle echoes to immersive soundscapes and even self-oscillating effects. Moreover, fans can purchase the pedal alongside a new shirt design from the Run For Cover website.

Pelican has also announced additional headline dates for their European tour with Russian Circles, including performances in various cities.
