Rebecca Allen appointed Chief Artist and Strategy Officer at UMG UK
Universal Music Group UK recently announced the appointment of Rebecca Allen to the role of Chief Artist and Strategy Officer. In her newly created position, Allen will provide support to UMG’s various UK labels, including the Island-EMI label group, and the Polydor label group, which includes Polydor, Capitol UK, and 0207 Def Jam – Decca, Fontana, and Universal Music Recordings.
Allen will continue to oversee the Audience, Media & Strategy (AMS) and Artist Relations teams, collaborating with UMG UK’s International Marketing and Globe creative teams, as well as partners in the US and other affiliates. With a background that traces back to her start at UMG in 1999 as a press assistant, Allen has played pivotal roles as the Director of Media at Decca, later advancing to Managing Director and then President. She took on the role of President of EMI Records in 2020 and later co-led alongside Jo Charrington as Co-President in 2022. Throughout her tenure, Allen has contributed to successful releases from renowned artists like Taylor Swift, Elton John, Olivia Dean, and Take That, among others.
In addition to her responsibilities at UMG, Allen serves as a Trustee of the BRIT School and received an Honorary Fellowship from Trinity Laban Conservatoire in 2023. Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Allen reiterated her commitment to supporting artists and helping them achieve their aspirations, citing her profound dedication to the creative process. “I’ve been fortunate to work with so many inspiring artists, managers, and colleagues, and I’m excited to deepen those relationships as we continue building a creative, collaborative, and artist-focused environment at UMG UK,” Allen shared.
