“Shock rock group Caster Volor has just unleashed their latest album, Paracosm, through Pavement Entertainment, providing listeners with a raw and unapologetic exploration of the chaos of contemporary life through the lens of heavy rock theatrics. This album serves as a realm of fantasy, rebellion, and dominance—a soundtrack for the outcasts, revolutionaries, and believers who recognize that rock ‘n’ roll is here to stay. Originating from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Caster Volor represents a shock rock powerhouse that brings forth a fierce fusion of hard rock and heavy metal combined with a theatrical performance beyond compare on today’s touring scene. Renowned for their over-the-top, vaudeville-inspired live acts, the band combines gritty, anthemic tunes with an immersive stage experience that transforms each show into a high-energy event leaving audiences in awe.

In a recent interview, Steven from the band delves into the new music, influences, and more. Caster Volor’s latest endeavor is the 6-track EP titled Paracosm. The title and artwork may initially confound most people, as a paracosm signifies a detailed imaginary realm created in the mind. Notably, the album artwork features the United Nations logo marked with Caster Volor graffiti, symbolizing the band’s establishment of their unique world and seizing control. The intriguing title of the opening track and the power drill-infused solo in “Black Leather Middle Finger” are just a couple of examples of hidden gems that beckon listeners for repeated listens. According to Steven, music demands multiple listens to truly grasp and appreciate the artist’s emotions, ideas, and concepts fully. It’s an art form that unveils its depth over time.

Reflecting on the journey into music, Steven notes that he never aspired to be a musician initially. The idea was conceived by his brother and lead vocalist, Alex, who drew inspiration from rock icons like Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie. When Alex transitioned from guitar to handing it over to Steven, the spark ignited in 2009, leading to the formation of Caster Volor. The band’s musical evolution has been fueled by a plethora of artists, both contemporary and classic, with Marilyn Manson acting as the pioneer guiding them towards further exploration of music.

When asked about dream collaborations, Steven expresses an interest in teaming up with artists like Ville Valo of HIM or Davey Havok of AFI for their timelessness and exceptional creative vision. He admires their profound lyrical content and willingness to defy conventional norms, elements that resonate with Caster Volor’s own ethos. Diving into personal pursuits outside the music realm, the band enjoys fitness regimens, attending live concerts, and exploring new destinations. As personal trainers running an athletic club in Plymouth, MN, Steven and Alex find solace in physical activities beyond the stage.

Describing their music as raw, powerful, and unyielding, Steven paints a picture of a high-energy and immersive sonic journey influenced by seminal bands like Mötley Crüe, Judas Priest, and W.A.S.P., along with modern industrial heavyweights like Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, and Rammstein. Despite their distinct sound, Caster Volor has often been likened to Steel Panther, a comparison that brings about mixed feelings as they strive to carve their path while admiring Steel Panther’s talent. The camaraderie within the band extends to everyday tasks with Steven and backup singer Kaitlin taking charge of cooking, lead singer handling the drinks, and the rhythm guitarist always armed with an acoustic guitar for impromptu singalongs.

Memorable encounters with music idols such as Ville Valo and Ronnie Radke have left lasting impressions on the band, affirming the transformative power music holds. For Steven, the fulfillment derived from creating music that impacts and resonates with listeners stands as the pinnacle of being a musician. If not for music, his dream job would revolve around inspiring and uplifting others through various artistic mediums, embodying the spirit of creativity and empowerment.”
