King & Country to Make History at Grand Ole Opry
For King & Country, the popular country duo, is set to make history at the Grand Ole Opry with an unprecedented five-night residency starting on December 15. This milestone marks the longest consecutive run at the iconic venue, a feat the duo is excited about.
Joel and Luke Smallbone, the talented brothers behind For King & Country, recently shared details about their upcoming A Drummer Boy Christmas Tour and their plans for new music on the Taste of Country Nights podcast. Their latest single, “World on Fire,” is a preview of their upcoming album scheduled for release in 2026.
The decision to focus on a residency at the Grand Ole Opry this year came after the duo had completed several large arena tours. Luke Smallbone explained that they wanted to change things up and perform at some of the biggest theaters in the country, with the Grand Ole Opry being a perfect fit. The Opry holds special significance for the duo as they have made Nashville their home after growing up in Australia. Every tour they have embarked on since moving to Music City has culminated in a performance at the Opry, making it feel like a hometown show for them.
Their Drummer Boy Christmas: The Live Experiences Tour, scheduled for December 15-19, draws inspiration from their 2020 album, “A Drummer Boy Christmas,” which features a blend of traditional and original holiday songs. Following these Nashville dates, the duo plans to take a break before their next scheduled tour date in July, although plans are fluid and subject to change.
The year 2025 was intentionally quiet for For King & Country as they focused on writing and recording a new album, with a potential release date in 2026. “World on Fire” serves as a teaser for this upcoming project, giving fans a taste of what’s to come.
The Top 25 Country Songs of 2025 list showcases a diverse range of music, including original duets, Christian crossovers, meaningful deep cuts, and breakthrough independent artists. The focus is on meaningful lyrics and unique arrangements, rather than just radio popularity, reflecting a shift in the industry. Airplay, sales data, and streaming numbers were all considered in compiling this list, alongside input from staff and Taste of Country readers.
As For King & Country prepares to make history at the Grand Ole Opry and with new music on the horizon, fans can look forward to more memorable moments from this talented duo in the years to come.
