Renowned guitarist Robin Trower has unveiled a new live rendition of Too Rolling Stoned, extracted from his upcoming album One Moment In Time: Live In The USA, slated for release on 30 January on Artone, Provogue. This performance captures Trower at his best, revisiting a classic track from his extensive discography and showcasing his enduring relevance as a live performer.
Featuring a total of fourteen tracks, the setlist serves as a compact journey through Trower’s music career. It strikes a balance between iconic songs and more recent compositions that reflect his current artistic direction. At the heart of the album are four pieces from the acclaimed 1974 album Bridge Of Sighs, which solidified Trower’s reputation and remains a standout record from the blues rock era.
Songs like Too Rolling Stoned and Day Of The Eagle from Bridge Of Sighs continue to resonate with audiences, demonstrating their timeless appeal. Trower himself has acknowledged the enduring strength of the album, praising its emotional depth and musical impact that have not waned over time.
Originally released in the mid-1970s during a prolific period for Trower, Bridge Of Sighs marked one of several gold-certified albums that propelled him to stardom in North America. Its significance on One Moment In Time: Live In The USA signifies the lasting influence of that era on his extensive body of work.
Recorded during Trower’s 2025 tour of the United States, following the launch of his studio album Come And Find Me, the live album captures the artist’s enduring connection with American audiences almost six decades after his first visit. The recordings were culled from shows at the Music Box At The Borgata in Atlantic City on 14 June and Tupelo Music Hall in Derry, New Hampshire on 24 June.
These venues aptly captured the energy of a seasoned musician fully immersed in his craft. The recordings showcase a band operating with precision, finesse, and power, honed by years of collective experience on stage.
At the core of One Moment In Time: Live In The USA is Trower’s long-standing power trio, rounded out by bassist and vocalist Richard Watts and drummer Chris Taggart. Together, they navigate intricate musical passages with remarkable cohesion and trust, underscoring their decade-long collaboration.
Born in London in 1945, Robin Trower initially gained fame as a member of Procol Harum from 1967 to 1971. Although the band was predominantly associated with progressive rock, Trower’s guitar work leaned heavily towards blues-inspired motifs. His decision to pursue a solo career post-Procol Harum marked the beginning of a musical journey defined by his unique artistic vision.
Establishing the Robin Trower Band in 1973, Trower swiftly emerged as a distinctive guitarist with a signature style characterized by tone, phrasing, and emotion. While drawing comparisons to Jimi Hendrix, Trower’s approach evolved into a distinct, original sound that set him apart from his peers.
One Moment In Time: Live In The USA showcases Robin Trower as an artist fully in control of his musical legacy and contemporary output. The album symbolizes his resilience in the face of health setbacks and tour disruptions, marking a triumphant return to the stage with newfound purpose.
Whether experienced through a home stereo system or recalled from a front-row seat, the performances on the album seek to evoke emotional resonance alongside technical virtuosity. This release serves as a current live testament to a guitarist whose career continues to evolve and inspire audiences worldwide.
