US alternative rock band Jane’s Addiction has decided to go their separate ways after facing a tumultuous 15 months filled with conflicts, accusations, and legal battles. The Californian group, known for their history of internal drama and disputes, abruptly ended their reunion tour in the United States in September of the previous year following an on-stage altercation in Boston between lead singer Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro, resulting in physical violence and a subsequent $10 million lawsuit.

In a recent Instagram post, the band shared, “We have made the decision to come together one last time to settle our disagreements in order to preserve the legacy of Jane’s Addiction that we created collectively. We are now looking ahead to the future as we pursue our individual musical and creative paths.”

The statement, presumably composed by Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins, addressed the incident that took place in September 2024, admitting, “Following that particular show, we mutually decided, without informing Perry, to halt the tour and made misleading comments about Perry’s mental well-being, which we now regret.”

Navarro had previously posted a statement on Instagram after the altercation, co-signed by him, Avery, and Perkins, expressing concerns about Farrell’s mental health and announcing the decision to terminate the tour. Farrell later issued an apology, taking full responsibility for his actions during the incident and expressing regret for his behavior.

Legal actions were taken as a result of the altercation, with Navarro, Avery, and Perkins filing a $10 million lawsuit against Farrell, citing financial losses due to canceled tour dates and a halted album project. In response, Farrell accused his bandmates of years of mistreatment and intimidation.

However, the band’s recent statement suggests a potential resolution of legal disputes, indicating a more amicable separation. Farrell also shared a personal apology for his behavior during the Boston performance, expressing regret for his actions and the impact they had on the audience and his bandmates.

Jane’s Addiction was formed in Los Angeles in 1985 and gained recognition for their contributions to alternative rock with albums like “Nothing’s Shocking” in 1988 and “Ritual de lo Habitual” in 1990, which featured the popular track “Been Caught Stealing.” Despite their musical success, the band faced internal conflicts and struggles with substance abuse, leading to their initial disbandment in 1991.

Although they embarked on various projects individually over the years, including Navarro’s time with Red Hot Chili Peppers, the band reunited periodically with different lineups. Their 2024 reunion tour was the first time the original members had performed together since 2010, marking a significant moment in the band’s history.
