Have you ever noticed how some bands seem to lack creativity in their press photos? It’s all too common to see a bland image of band members staring blankly at the camera in a practice space without any excitement or intrigue. No blood, naked ladies, daggers, skulls, capes, candles, or spiked gauntlets in sight. It can be quite a disappointment, right? Well, fear not, because we have some exciting news from the eccentric Miami metal duo, Worm.

Scheduled for release early next year, Worm will be unveiling their first album on the esteemed label Century Media. We’ve already had a taste of what’s to come with the 12-minute title track, “Necropalace,” and now they’ve graced us with “Blackheart,” a more concise eight-minute track. This piece showcases some beautifully haunting gothic doom elements. Fearlessly embracing cinematic outbursts of rage, Worm delivers a track that wouldn’t feel out of place on the soundtrack of a cult classic like “Lost Boys.”

Sharing insights into the track, vocalist Phantom Slaughter describes “Blackheart” as a gothic vampire love ballad that explores feelings of alienation and loss experienced by those who embrace the night. Musically, the song draws inspiration from Avantgarde Music-era Katatonia and Fields Of The Nephilim, blending it with a touch of icy AOR reminiscent of FM (UK), Strangeways, and Harem Scarem. Paying homage to their Florida roots, Worm incorporates hints of frozen swamp vibes inspired by Death (Symbolic) and Crimson Glory.

In keeping with their theatrical style, the music video for “Blackheart” is a haunting visual feast crafted by seasoned metal director and special effects/makeup artist Norman Cabrera. It’s a must-watch for fans of the macabre. If “Blackheart” is anything to go by, Worm’s upcoming album, “Necropalace,” promises to be a darkly captivating journey for listeners.

Scheduled to hit the shelves on 2/13 via Century Media, “Necropalace” is set to solidify Worm’s position as a force to be reckoned with in the metal scene. So, if you’re craving a dose of eerie and mesmerizing music, be sure to mark your calendars for the release of this highly anticipated album. Let Worm take you on a spellbinding musical adventure through the dark realms of gothic metal.
