Anthrax finishes recording new album and shoots first music video for 2026 debut
Anthrax recently finished working on their latest studio album and wrapped up shooting a music video, as announced by guitarist Scott Ian on Saturday, December 20. Ian took to social media to share the exciting news, expressing his gratitude to fans who braved the cold weather to help create something extraordinary. He also hinted at more to come from the band in 2026.
The upcoming album is set to be released in early 2026, with distribution in North America by Megaforce and in Europe by Nuclear Blast. Mixing for the album took place at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, California, with producer Jay Ruston leading the project. This collaboration marks Ruston’s third time working with Anthrax, following their albums “For All Kings” in 2016 and “Worship Music” in 2011.
Fans can expect to catch Anthrax on tour in Canada alongside Megadeth and Exodus, starting on February 15, 2026, in Victoria, British Columbia. The tour will also make stops in Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Ottawa before concluding in early March. Additionally, the band has secured appearances at various festivals across Europe, along with shows scheduled in Australia and Japan throughout the year.
Having originated in Queens, New York, in 1981, Anthrax is recognized as one of the pioneers of thrash metal. Over the years, they have released a total of 11 studio albums, received six GRAMMY nominations, and embarked on numerous global tours beginning in 1984. Their previous studio album, “For All Kings,” was released in 2016.
