Cider. The band that seems to have been able to release two albums in the time it took me to finish this article. Not to say that guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and Cider mastermind Nick Grever is spending an excessive amount of time in the studio. Quite the contrary, in fact. From what I gather, Cider got together, wrote some songs, went into the studio, recorded those songs, and then released them. The result? Two uniquely different and enjoyable albums. This track, from their innermost album, is my favorite because of how stripped down it is. It’s the simplicity of just three players – Grever, bassist Anna Blanton, and drummer Tim Baerwald – that give this track its charm. It’s a quiet, reflective moment in the midst of a collection of often bombastic songs.
